Obituary of Juan David Mejia
JUAN DAVID MEJIA
EDINBURG - Juan David Mejia, 69, was promoted to heaven to be with our Lord, Saturday, November 24, 2018, at M.D. Anderson Cancer Center in Houston surrounded by his family. Born in Laredo, Texas Juan lived in Edinburg most of his life. Mr. Mejia was preceded in death by his parents, Enrique and Mucia Mejia; his brother, Enrique "Kike" Mejia.
Mr. Mejia was a true servant of God. Juan was the Director of the Adult Probation Department of Hidalgo County for more than 20 years. He spent his lifetime putting others before himself. Mr. Mejia cherished time with family, friends and helping anyone who needed a hand. In the eyes of Juan Mejia no one he came across was a stranger but a friend waiting to be made. He loved to hunt, fish, read and write. "I'm Juan Mejia and I'm your friend," "If it got any better I couldn't stand it," "I'm glad you got to see me," were some of his famous quotes.
Mr. Mejia is survived by his wife, Sylvia E. Mejia; four children, Liza (Marcos) Reyes, Alyce A. (Michael) Metzroth, Robin A. Ramos, and J.D. Mejia, Jr.; five grandchildren, Josh, Christopher, Jenna, Ryan, and Oliver; his four siblings, Carlota Gutierrez, Carlos Mejia, Mucia (Jesus) Gonzalez, and Norma (Galo) Garcia; numerous cousins, nieces, nephews and many many friends.
Visitation will be from 4 p.m. to 9 p.m. with a 7 p.m. Celebration of Life service Wednesday, November 28, 2018, at Legacy Chapels 4610 South Jackson Road in Edinburg. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions can be made to gifts.mdanderson.org.
Funeral services are under the direction of Legacy Chapels in Edinburg.
