RUBEN REAGAN DAVID
MCALLEN -Ruben R. David
April 3, 1926 - March 24, 2016
Ruben R. David was born in Hebbronville, Texas on April 3, 1926. He was the first of two sons born to Elbert and Eliza David. He died peacefully at home on March 24, 2016 in McAllen, Texas, a few days shy of his 90th birthday. Ruben lived the majority of his life in Hebbronville, Texas and served in the US Army during World War II. He received the Purple Heart medal. He married Barbara Saenz and they raised four children together. Ruben worked for the US Postal Service until his retirement in 1986. He was a member of the United Methodist Church where he taught adult Sunday school for many years. Ruben was known for his story telling abilities, ingenuity and ability to make people laugh. In his later years, he wrote an autobiography for his family to enjoy the many stories of his youth and life. Ruben is preceded in his death by his wife, Barbara.
Mr. David is survived by his brother, Ralph David (Elva); his children Barbara Rodriquez, Elbert David (Carla), Reagan David and Carol (William) Hawkins; 7 grandchildren and 4 great-grandchildren.
Visitation will be from 5 pm - 8 pm on Monday, March 28, 2016, at Legacy Chapels 4610 S. Jackson Rd in Edinburg. Funeral service will be at 10am Tuesday, March 29, 2016, at Legacy Chapels. Interment will follow at Valley Memorial Gardens in McAllen with full military honors. A reception will follow at Legacy Chapels in Edinburg.
The family wishes to express its sincerest gratitude to all the dedicated caregivers who made it possible for Ruben to live in his home until his dying day. A special debt of gratitude is extended to Rosalba Beccera for her extraordinary love and care of our father in the last several years of his life. He will be greatly missed by the many family members and friends who loved and supported Ruben through his long and blessed life.
Funeral services are under the direction of Legacy Chapels in Edinburg.
