Obituary of Hortencia Abrego

HORTENCIA ABREGO McALLEN - Hortencia Villarreal Abrego entered eternal rest on November 18, 2020, in McAllen. Mrs. Abrego is preceded in death by her parents Juan Villarreal and Maria Gil Villarreal and husband Roy Abrego; Siblings Rosa Lopez, Lucilla Lopez, Asencion Diaz, Tomas Villarreal, Juan Villarreal, Jose Villarreal, Fidel Villarreal, and Apolinar Villarreal. Mrs. Abrego is survived by her children Roy (Paula) Abrego, Richard Abrego, Becky Abrego-Alvarez, Ray Abrego, and Rachel (Frank) De Los Santos; Grandchildren Dr. Melynda Alvarez, Dr. Kimberly Alvarez, Karynna De Los Santos, Frank Mark De Los Santos, Roy Joshua Abrego, Samantha Abrego, and Richard Perez Siblings Esperanza Munoz, Ambrosio (Albesa) Villarreal, Delfina Acevado, and Felix (Hilda) Villarreal. Hortencia Abrego was a devoted Christian who brought joy to many people. She was a loving and cherished wife, sister, mother, grandmother and "Tia" to all. An inherently hard worker, she had a successful career of 40 years as a salesperson and district manager for Stanley Home Products. She enjoyed going to church, attending bingos, eating at her favorite table at Taco Fiesta with her family, cooking delicious meals, talking on the phone, and watching novelas. Those that knew her best would say it was praying for others and praising our God that brought her the most joy. She will be truly missed by all who knew her. Interment will be at 10 a.m. Saturday, November 21, 2020, at Roselawn Cemetery 1201 S. Main St. in McAllen. Pallbearers will be Ray Abrego, Roy Joshua Abrego, Kimberly Alvarez, Frank Mark De Los Santos, John Escobar and Andy Alvarez.
