McAllen- Detlef Thonnissen, born to Gunter and Betti Thonnissen in Germany, passed away on Friday, October 18th 2013 at his residence in McAllen. He leaves behind his caring and devoted wife, Asiria Thonnissen; children Tristan, Joshua (Jes), Amy Korte and Michael (Daniella) Thonnissen and nine grandchildren. He is also survived by a brother Orlando Carpena a niece, Vanessa Carpena and his two beloved dogs, Dukie and Kasey.
Det enjoyed golf, fishing and bowling. Prior to his illness, he worked for Alps Automotive in McAllen and Reynosa.
Family will receive friends on Monday, October 21st 2013 from 10:00am to 9:00pm with a rosary beginning at 7:00pm at Legacy Chapels in Edinburg. Funeral Mass will be at 11:00am on Tuesday, October 22nd 2013 at Holy Spirit Catholic Church in McAllen. Interment will follow at Roselawn Cemetery. Funeral Services are under the direction of Legacy Chapels in Edinburg.
