Mario Alberto Garza 68, passed away in his home on April 10, 2018.
Mario was a proud, Class of 1968 Eagle. He claimed that his class was the best class Brownsville High School ever had!
At Pan American University in Edinburg, he met his wife of 44 years, Juanita Young (JY) at a Sock-Hop. As a young couple, JY and Mario settled in Brownsville and lived a fruitful life with two daughters, Jeane and Marcie (Muffy).
Mario worked for many years at the Port of Brownsville with Mr. Jorge Gonzalez and Mr. Robert Hymel. He later spent 25 years as a History teacher, in Brownsville and Edinburg.
Mario was the (P) Grand Knight of the Knights of Columbus Council 15262 and a member of the Texas Lions Club Early Risers.
Mario enjoyed, "the art and craft of golf". He often stated, "I sure hope there's a golf course in Heaven".
Mario leaves his wife, JY, his girls: Jeane and Marcie (Joe White), and his 3 precious grandchildren: Madison Bird (LeA), Nathan (Nate the Great), Palmer (Sweet P), to carry on the Garza torch.
Mario is survived by brothers: Rocky, Gonzalo, John, Joe, sister Olga, and his nephews and nieces whom he cherished dearly. He is preceded in death by his parents, Rogerio and Guadalupe Garza, his sister Mary Torres and his nephew Lt. Col. Andreas Garza.

There are no words in any language that can describe the pain that we feel from losing this incredible man.
Mario passed away after a 6-month torturous battle with cancer. A cancer that started in his kidney, spread to his lungs and then to his beautiful brain.
Mario's favorite song: "I don't want to fade away. Give me one more day, please. I don't want to fade away. In your heart I want to stay."
