Obituary of Cynthia Yvonne Lopez

Cynthia "Cindy" Yvonne Lopez, 54, was called home to be with the Lord on Friday, July 5, 2013. She was born September 30, 1958, in McAllen and attended McAllen High School. She is preceded in death by her mother, Angelita Cortez, her brother, Francisco L. Castillo and her daughter, Christina Perez. She was united in marriage to Lorenzo "Mario" Lopez, and together they began their lives in Houston, Texas. They lived in Atlanta, Georgia and Munford, Alabama, before returning to McAllen, Texas. Cindy worked in the Food Services Department with McAllen ISD for several years. She will always be remembered for her quick wit, fun loving spirit, compassionate heart and most importantly, her love for God and her family. Cindy is survived by her loving husband Mario Lopez; four children, Michael Jimenez, Juan Antonio Lopez, Jessica Yvette Lopez, and Angie Emily Lopez; five granddaughters, Alianette Lopez, Ashlee Lopez, Faith Agudelo, Jazelynn Lopez, Laila Agudelo and a granddaughter on the way Destinee Mendoza; her father, Elpidio Cortez; three brothers, Peter (Gretchen) Castillo, Elpidio Cortez Jr., and Joe Ramon (Liza) Cortez; two sisters, Sylvia (Ernest) Sanchez and Leticia (Ronald) Zamora. A memorial service will be held Tuesday, July 9 at 6:00 p.m. at Cornerstone Church, 2033 Industrial Drive Mcallen, Texas, with Pastor Louie Canchola officiating. The family would like to extend a special thanks to Comfort House of McAllen for all their support. Funeral services are under the direction Legacy Chapels in Edinburg.
