DONACIANA ORTEGA

MCALLEN - On Friday, February 23, 2018, our Mamita Linda’s golden heart stopped beating. Our beautiful Ortega Matriarch is now rejoicing with the love of her life, Rene Ortega, in the presence of their Lord and Savior. She leaves us with a legacy of selflessness, servitude, generosity and thoughtfulness that was nothing short of God’s commandment to love one another. She was a God-fearing woman who has left us with a huge hole in our hearts and a beautiful path of memories and love. Our hearts are filled with hope that we will see our beautiful Mother, Grandmother, Great-Grandmother, Sister and Inspiration on the golden streets one day.

She was born in Mission, Texas on March 19, 1938. She is preceded in death by her husband of 48 years, Rene Ortega; her parents, Isidro and San Juanita Gonzalez; two brothers, Pedro and Ramon Gonzalez; and a sister, Emma G. Bocanegra.

Mrs. Ortega leaves behind her strong-knit family, her three children, Donna (Ruben) Robles, Rene (Elizabeth) Ortega, and Sonia (Ronnie) Salinas; her nine grandchildren, Angela Robles, Ruben (Abby) Robles, Stephanie (Miguel) Garcia, Samantha (Eduardo) Bejar, Lauren (Luis) Valencia, Caleb Ortega,  Hannah Salinas, Sarah Ortega, and Mikaela Salinas; a great-grandson, William Garcia; two sisters, Ausencia (Daniel) Botello, and Carmen (Mingo) Gonzalez; numerous nieces, nephews and friends.

Visitation will be at Palm Valley Church, 1720 East Griffin Parkway Mission, where she was a longtime member. The viewing will be from 5 p.m. to 9 p.m. with a 7 p.m. prayer service on Monday, February 26, 2018. Funeral service will be at 10 a.m. on Tuesday, February 27, 2018. Interment will follow at Valley Memorial Gardens in McAllen.

Funeral services are under the direction of Legacy Chapels in Edinburg.
