Obituary of Armandina D. "Merky" Mercado

ARMANDINA D. MERCADO

EDINBURG - Armandina D. Mercado, 86, went to be with our Lord, Saturday, December 30, 2017, in Edinburg surrounded by her family. Born in Donna she had lived in Edinburg most of her life. Armandina was a well known educator and salesperson. She worked at Vela-Mora Department Store, Roberts Department Store, Klincks Drug Store, drove a truck with her father and spent more than 20 years as a Paraprofessional with the E.C.I.S.D. Armandina led a very active lifestyle which included, shopping, traveling, politics, and the Sunday afternoon dances at the Monte Carlo Ballroom.  Mrs. Mercado is preceded in death by her husband, Eduardo Esteban Mercado; a daughter, Maria De Jesus "Susie" Mercado; a grandson, Jose Felix Garay; her parents, Cresencio and Maria De Leon; sister, Angelita Macias; three brothers, Alejandro, Alfredo and Arnulfo De Leon.

Mrs. Mercado is survived by her children, Eduardo A. (Noelia) Mercado, Jose A. (Dora) Mercado, Lari Annette Mercado, and Antonio A. (Janie) Mercado; 15 grandchildren; 15 great-grandchildren; a great-great-grandson; numerous uncles, aunts, nieces, nephews and many friends; her beloved pets. 

Visitation will be from 2 p.m. to 9 p.m. with a 6 p.m. Celebration of Life Service Tuesday, January 2, 2018, at Legacy Chapels 4610 South Jackson Rd in Edinburg. Funeral mass will be celebrated at 10 a.m. Wednesday, January 3, 2018, at St. Jude Catholic Church in Pharr. A private interment of her cremated remains will be held at a later date. In lieu of flowers memorial contributions can be made to the Amara Hospice Foundation. 

The Mercado family would like to thank, Luz Rodriguez, Edinburg Regional Medical Center 4th Floor Staff, Dr. Ruiz Perez, Amara Hospice Facility in Edinburg and beloved granddaughter and companion, Yadira Yvette Garay for all the support and care provided to our beloved Armandina D. Mercado.

Funeral services are under the direction of Legacy Chapels in Edinburg.
