NINFA M. TREVINO

MCALLEN - Ninfa Mata Trevino, beloved wife, mother, sister, grandmother, great-grandmother, and aunt passed away on Friday, December 22, 2017. Ninfa was born on July 28, 1943, in McAllen, Texas. She is preceded in death by her beloved parents Pedro Olivarez Mata and Cecilia Perez Mata; a sister, Ninfa “Ninfita” Mata. 

Mrs. Trevino is survived by her husband of 53 years, Esteban J. Trevino. They met at Roosevelt Elementary School in McAllen, Texas. They became high school sweethearts at McAllen High School and graduated in 1962. Esteban and Ninfa married on December 11, 1964. 

Ninfa worked at Sears and the Patio Shop and raised her two sons. Along the way, she met many wonderful friends that were by her side till her last days of life. Ninfa loved to dance, exercise, and travel. She loved to spend time with her family and friends. Ninfa lived her life to the fullest and was a fighter despite her battle with cancer. 

Ninfa is also survived by her two sons, Esteban (Lisa) and Oscar (Michelle); three grandchildren, Cecilia, Oscar, Natasha; two great-grandsons, Elijah and Isiah; a loving sister, Graciela Mata Ramirez, who shared a deep bond with Ninfa and provided comfort and care till her last day; two nieces Nora Lisa Ramirez and Lilia R. Moreno; a nephew, Marco A. Ramirez; numerous cousins and friends. 

Visitation will be from 5 p.m. to 9 p.m. with a 7 p.m. rosary, Monday, December 25, 2017, at Legacy Chapels 4610 South Jackson Rd in Edinburg. Funeral mass will be celebrated at 10 a.m. Tuesday, December 26, 2017, at Holy Spirit Catholic Church in McAllen. Interment will follow at Valley Memorial Gardens in McAllen. Pallbearers will be Oscar O. Trevino, Oscar E. Trevino, Marco Ramirez, Marcos Oliva, Jess Smith, and Raul Moreno. 

The Trevino Family would like to thank Ninfa’s family and friends who visited and helped lift her spirits during her last days.  Mr. Trevino would also like to thank the staff at DHR Hospice, Legends Transitional Care, and especially  Patricia S. Trevino for the care provided.

Funeral services are under the direction of Legacy Chapels in Edinburg.
