Today we took your 8th grade homecoming garter to the cemetary. I remember you asking me why you didn't get one when I gave Gus his when he was in 8th grade, and I told you you had to wait until your last year in middle school. Well, that day never came, but I still made your garter with lots of love, and delivered on my promise. We also donated a mini-mum to a deserving 8th grade student at SMS in your memory. She seemed so happy to receive it, and we really hope that it makes her day special tomorrow. I love you and miss you every day, kid.

I really miss you. Yesterday was so hard, and today's even harder. You would think that it gets easier with time, but it doesn't. The only solace I have is knowing that you are in paradise, and are no longer suffering. I can only imagine the beauty and peace that you experience every day, and await my turn to experience it. On Sunday, we celebrated your birthday by spending it with the children at the hospital that you spent and endless days and nights at. We had pizza, cupcakes, and all your favorite snacks to share with them. We even got them three gifts each so that they could celebrate in your honor. Yesterday, brothercito took cupcakes to school to celebrate & remember you with your closest friends. Your niece misses you and loves you. Your nieces and nephew, who didn't have the pleasure of meeting you, miss you and love you, because you live on every single day of our lives. And I miss you and love you every single day.

My name is Alex E. Ramirez and I am currently serving in the United States Marine Corps in Japan. I am a Gunnery Sergeant in the Infantry and a resident of Edinburg, Texas. My words are not adequate to express the sadness i feel for your loss. I am confident that your son was an inspiration to everyone he knew. Even though I was not blessed or fortunate enough to meet him, I want you to know that his fighting spirit during this battle he faced has truly inspired me. His fighting spirit at such a young age is a inspiration to many of us, especially in the Marines. I am running a half marathon this weekend and I will be dedicating this opportunity to your son. I imagine there is no pain more difficult than losing a child. My heart and prayers go out to you at this most difficult time.

Our most sincere heartfelt condolences to all the family & friends. We all here for a purpose....Javi's train ride in this life was short for reasons known to God. He accomplished what God wanted him to do in a short time. For some of us it will take us longer to accomplish our purpose, I know we will travel together farther down the track, but for all it is….Viaje con Dios. Blessed "travels" to all of us.
Con mucho carino,
Tio Arnoldo & Tia Chela

Javier Armando “Javi” Martinez, 2004-2017
