MARGARITA VELA MCALLEN - Margarita Vela, 78, went to be with our Lord, Thursday, August 10, 2017, in McAllen surrounded by her family. Born in General Treviño, N.L., Mexico she had lived in most of her life in McAllen. Mrs. Vela is preceded in death by her husband, Arturo Vela; her parents, Antioco and Ofelia Guerra. Mrs. Vela is survived by her five children: Arturo Vela, Juan Carlos Vela, Estela (Pablo) Hryzodub, Jamie Vela and Maggie (Raul) Barrera; nine grandchildren; a brother, Armando Guerra; four sisters: Orfelinda Gonzalez, Ana Salinas, Juanita Perez and Laura Calderon; numerous nieces and nephews. Visitation will be from 6 p.m to 10 p.m. with a 7 p.m. rosary, Sunday, August 13, 2017, at Legacy Chapels 4610 South Jackson Rd in Edinburg. Funeral mass will be celebrated at 10 a.m. Monday, August 14, 2017, at St. Joseph the Worker Catholic Church in McAllen. Interment will follow at Garden of Angels Cemetery in Mission. Funeral services are under the direction of Legacy Chapels in Edinburg.
