Edinburg, Texas Juanita Nunez Cantu,70, entered eternal life on Monday April 17, 2017 surrounded by her family in Edinburg. Janie, as she was lovingly known by family and friends was born on July 26, 1946 in Mexico to Tomas Ortiz and Maria Jovita Medina. Janie was a member of St. Joseph Catholic Church in Edinburg and a life long resident of Edinburg. Janie will be dearly missed by her family and those that came to know her. Left to cherish her memory her husband Jose Luis Cantu, her children; Jose Luis Cantu Jr. (Esther Olivarez Cantu) and Dana Cantu Cavazos (David Joe Cavazos) her loving grandchildren; Jose Luis Cantu III, Ciara Danielle Cantu, Devin Joe Cavazos, and Daylon Austin Cavazos, her siblings-Ramona Gomez, Mario Nunez, Aurora Nunez Hernandez, Tomasita Nunez Perez, and Lisa Marie Garcia. Visitation will be on Thursday April 20, 2019 at Legacy Chapels 4610 South Jackson Rd. in Edinburg from 5:00 PM to 9:00 PM with the recital of the Holy Rosary at 7:00 PM Funeral mass will be on Friday April 21, 2017 at St. Joseph Catholic Church in Edinburg at 10:00 AM Cremation service will follow at a later date. Funeral arrangements are being handled by Legacy Chapels in Edinburg.
