Obituary of Enrique Salas

ENRIQUE SALAS MCALLEN - Enrique Salas, 81, went to be with our Lord, Friday, October 28, 2016, in McAllen. Born in Edroy, Texas, and formerly of Gary, Indiana, he had lived in McAllen for the past 30 years. Mr. Salas retired from Inland Steel after 35 years of faithful service. He is preceded in death by his parents, Federico and Enriqueta Salas; three sisters, Leonor Gomez, Tomasa Garza and Matilde Posada; two brothers, Pedro and Jesus Salas. Mr. Salas is survived by his wife, Ana Maria Salas; six children, Diana (Rene) Guzman, Jesus (Aida) Salas, Belinda Salas, Dodie Salas, Javier (Dahlia) Salas and Christina (Art) Diaz; 16 grandchildren; 24 great-grandchildren; 4 great-great-grandchildren; two brothers, Mike and Alfredo Salas; a sister, Ofelia Garza; numerous nieces and nephews. Enrique was an avid Chicago Cubs fan, a board member for La Piedad Cemetery and enjoyed playing softball with Los Tequileros Softball Club in East Chicago, Indiana. Mr. Salas passionately enjoyed fishing. Visitation will be from 1 p.m. to 9 p.m. with a 7 p.m. rosary, Wednesday, November 2, 2016, at Legacy Chapels 4610 S. Jackson Rd in Edinburg. Funeral mass will be celebrated at 10 a.m. Thursday, November 3, 2016, at Our Lady of Sorrows Catholic Church in McAllen. Interment will follow at Valley Memorial Gardens in McAllen. Funeral services are under the direction of Legacy Chapels in Edinburg.
