Obituary of Maria Olivia Barragan

MARIA OLIVIA BARRAGAN MCALLEN - Maria Olivia Barragan, 86, went to be with our Lord, Thursday, September 29, 2016, in McAllen surrounded by her family. Born in Pharr, she had lived in McAllen most of her life. Mrs. Barragan is preceded in death by her parents, Arnulfo and Loreto Guajardo; her husband, Roberto Barragan; two daughters, Nora Reyes and Rosa Santana; two grandsons, Roberto X. Barragan and Luis Cervantes Jr.; a son-in-law Argelio Guerra. Olivia was an epitome of love and kindness to her family and everyone whose life she touched. She enjoyed playing BINGO, watching her favorite team the Dallas Cowboys, and family gatherings. Olivia had a great sense of humor, was a women of faith and enjoyed making crafts. Olivia is survived by her ten children, Victor (Janie) Barragan, MaryLou (Luis) Cervantes, Sylvia (David) Perez, Gloria (Oswaldo) Calderon, Robert ( Dalia) Barragan, Norma Guerra, Olivia (Christian) Egemba, Joe Barragan, Sonia Barragan and Carlos Barragan; two sons-in-law, Baldemar Reyes and Abel Santana; 34 grandchildren; 36 great-grandchildren; 2 great-great-grandchildren; numerous nieces and nephews. Visitation will be from 5 p.m. to 9 p.m. with a 7 p.m. Celebration of Life service, Sunday, October 2, 2016, at Legacy Chapels 4610 S. Jackson Rd in Edinburg. Funeral mass will be at 10 a.m. Monday, October 3, 2016, at Holy Spirit Catholic Church in McAllen. Interment will follow at Valley Memorial Gardens in McAllen. Funeral services are under the direction of Legacy Chapels in Edinburg.
