Obituary of Lucia Lopez

LUCIA "CHITA" LOPEZ PHARR - Lucia "Chita" Lopez, 87, went to be with our Lord, Tuesday, July 26, 2016, in McAllen surrounded by her family. Born in McAllen she had lived in Pharr for the past 50 years. Mrs. Lopez is preceded in death by her husband Joaquin G. Lopez Jr.; her parents, Juan and Maria Villarreal; four brothers, Fidel, Jose, Tomas and Juan Villarreal; two sisters, Ascencion Diaz and Rosa Lopez. Lucia was an active member of Iglesia Rios De Agua Viva in McAllen. She was known as "Grandma" to all who knew her at McAllen Glass Company. Mrs. Lopez loved her family and had a great passion for family gatherings. Lucia's favorite past time was reading Bible scriptures, gardening, sewing and having great conversations with family and friends. Mrs. Lopez is survived by her five children, David (Alicia) Lopez, Joaquin Daniel (Silvia) Lopez, Hilda L. (Art) Martinez, Carlos Eloy (Norma) Lopez and Juan E. "Johnny" (Maria G.) Lopez; 20 grandchildren; 14 great-grandchildren; 1 great-great-grandson; three brothers, Apolinar "Polo", Ambrosio "Chuy" and Felix "Guero" Villarreal; three sisters, Delfina Acevedo, Hortencia Abrego and Esperanza Munoz; numerous nieces and nephews. Visitation will be from 5 p.m. to 9 p.m. with a 7 p.m. prayer service, Thursday, July 28, 2016, at Legacy Chapels 4610 S. Jackson Rd in Edinburg. Funeral service will be at 10 a.m. Friday, July 29, 2016, at Iglesia Rios De Agua Viva 513 East Westway in McAllen. Interment will follow at La Piedad Cemetery in McAllen. Funeral services are under the direction of Legacy Chapels in Edinburg.
