Obituary of Mary Johnson

Our Mother Mary Catherine Johnson, 80, left this world on Wednesday, July 13th to be with the Lord. Her parents were Juan Jose and Francisca Hinojosa. Her husband Cecil Johnson. Her brother Juan Jose (Carmen) Hinojosa II. Sisters Alma (Jim) Stubblefield and Sylvia Hinojosa. Left to cherish her memory are her three daughters Yvette and Yvonne Johnson, and Catherine (Jim) Batot, She was blessed with four grandchildren Ashley Batot (Tommie Lee II), Jim Batot III, Lauryn Batot and Brandon Johnson. One great grandchild, Tommie Lee III. Her nieces Melissa Stubblefield, Camille Hinojosa, Odette Salinas, and one nephew John Joseph Hinojosa. A very special thank you to Bertha Elvira Chavana for loving our mother like her own. Also to Laurie and Raul McCallum and Eva Garcia for the unconditional love that they unselfishly provided for so many years. To our friends who have traveled this journey with us, please know that the difference you have made in our lives is everlasting. Mother was a teacher at heart. After graduating from Incarnate Word University she taught for 35 years at Falfurrias Elementary, but her passion was always being a mother and grandmother. The guidance and resilience she demonstrated throughout her life truly defined her character. She will forever be remembered and loved deeply for the home she made for us and the path she left for us to follow. The family would like to invite friends and family to celebrate mom's life on Sunday, July 17, 2016 at Legacy Chapels, 4610 S. Jackson Rd, Edinburg, from 4:00 PM to 7:00 PM with a service to begin at 6:00 PM.
