FERNANDO CANTU MCALLEN - Fernando Cantu, 91, went to be with our Lord, Sunday June 19, 2016, in Edinburg surrounded by his family. Born in Mason, Texas he had lived in McAllen most of his life. Mr. Cantu is preceded in death by his parents, Fernando and Maria Guadalupe Cantu; four sisters, Lydia Cantu, Alicia Cantu, Maria Guadalupe Cantu and Violeta Guillermina Cantu. Mr. Cantu is survived by his wife, Maria C. Cantu; five children, Blanca M. Vasquez, Alicia (Jose) Guerra, Juan M. (Minerva) Cantu, Rosa E. Gonzalez and Maria D. Cantu; 17 grandchildren; 30 great- grandchildren; 1 great-great-granddaughter; three sisters, Rebeca Cantu, Blanca Cantu and Olga Cantu; numerous nieces and nephews. Visitation will be from 5 p.m. to 9 p.m. with a 7 p.m. prayer service Tuesday, June 21, 2016, at Legacy Chapels 4610 S. Jackson Rd in Edinburg. Chapel service will be at 1 p.m., Wednesday, June 22, 2016, at Legacy Chapels. Interment will follow at Valley Memorial Gardens in McAllen. Funeral services are under the direction of Legacy Chapels in Edinburg.
