My sister Maxine and I had many fun times at Grandma Pauline's house. I remember one time my parents went Christmas shopping and left us in her care. My sister and I were outside playing in the carport area with the neighborhood children and we made up a game where we would lay on the brick wall then roll off of it like humpty dumpty. This brick wall underneath the carport was not an ordinary brick wall it was made up of sharp protruding edges and when it was my turn to roll off the wall I felt my head scrape against it. I got up and began to laugh and so did everyone else but then I noticed the look of horror on my sister's face as I felt something wet trickle down my face to my surprise it was blood! I immediately ran inside where Grandma sat watching her novellas and one look at me she shot up and took me over to the sink to clean me up. All I kept asking was if I was going to die and she soothed me and held a rag on my head as I continued to ask if I was going to die. After she calmed me down and reassured me that I was going to be fine she continued to hold me and the rag on my head until my parents showed up. I ended up getting 8 stitches and KFC from Grandma and Grandpa.
I remember many little things such as re-painting the bird house and planting trees in her yard but what I will never forget is how much she loved us and how much we love her. You will be missed tremendously Grandma Pauline. Rest In Peace. Love, Johanna
