Obituary of Emma Gonzalez

Emma G. Gonzalez, 91, beloved mother, grandmother and great grandmother joined her husband in rest on Friday, May 27, 2016. Born in Mission on June 20, 1924, to Inocencio and Mauricia Gutierrez, Emma had lived in McAllen most of her life. Mrs. Gonzalez is preceded in death by her husband Israel Gonzalez; her parents; two sisters, Elida Curd and Hermelinda Cantu. Emma was a wonderful daughter, wife, mother, sister, aunt, grandmother and great grandmother. She brought happiness and joy to everyone she met. Her joy was working on her gardens and joining her friends at church and church events. Emma was always looking forward to family gatherings. She was a woman of true faith, her prayers at family gatherings will be surely missed. Mrs Gonzalez is survived by five children; Hector (Oralia "Lalie") Gonzalez, Ernesto (Imelda) Gonzalez, Sylvia (Rolando) Mendez, Dahlia Molloy and Ramiro Gonzalez; ten grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren; two brothers, Guadalupe and Humberto Gutierrez; a sister, Ernestina Ponce; numerous nieces and nephews. Visitation will be from 5 p.m. to 9 p.m. with a 7 p.m. prayer service, Monday, May 30, 2016, at Legacy Chapels 4610 S. Jackson Rd in Edinburg. Funeral service will be at 10 a.m. Tuesday, May 31, 2016, at Iglesia Evangelica Cristiana in McAllen. Interment will follow at Roselawn Cemetery in McAllen, her six grandsons will serve as pallbearers and her four granddaughters will be honorary pallbearers. Funeral service are under the direction of Legacy Chapels in Edinburg.
