JUAN CONTRERAS MCALLEN - Juan Contreras, 80, went to be with our Lord, Monday, April 4, 2016, at his residence in McAllen surrounded by his family. Born in Santa Cruz, De La Cuchilla, Durango, Mexico he had lived in Las Cruces, New Mexico most of his life. He is preceded in death by his parents, Jose Angel and Maria Isabel Contreras; a son Jose Luis Galvan; three sisters, Ricarda Contreras, Maria Elena Contreras and Felipa Contreras; four brothers, Matias, Pio, Arcadio and Cosme Contreras Mr. Contreras is survived his wife wife, Tomasa Galvan; six children, Hortencia (Filemon) Mata, Jose Angel Contreras, Veneranda (Heriberto) Padron, Juana Maria (Gerardo Rojas) Contreras, Marco Antonio Contreras and Araceli Contreras; 21 grandchildren; 21 great-grandchildren; two sisters, Maria E. Contreras and Martha Contreras; numerous nieces and nephews. Visitation will be from 6pm to 9pm with a 7pm rosary, Tuesday, April 5, 2016, at Legacy Chapels 4610 South Jackson Rd in Edinburg. Funeral service will be at 2pm Wednesday, April 6, 2016, at St. Joseph the Worker Catholic Church in McAllen. Interment will follow at La Piedad Cemetery in McAllen. Funeral services are under the direction of Legacy Chapels in Edinburg.
