My wonderful Manuel, Don't worry about me you can rest in peace. You taught me well. I was such a child when we met. You taught me about the arts, classical music, Frank Sinatra, Michavelle, "A Message to Garcia, the pyramids, financies, all I know about Silver and gold, the Classics, your humor, you molded me to be a lot like you! I was lucky that I married a man,a lover, a father a provider who surrounded us with love, magic, and all the necessities that life has to offer. I was the mother of his children but he was always first in my life! The kids came second and they knew it.How can I go on? You my love made it possible! You made me a strong woman and I learned to buy anything with cash. If we didn't have the money we all waited until we did! You were my rock and I clunged to you for knowledge. You were my enyclopedia. You knew everything!
When you had the stroke you helped me so much! I had to implement all I had learned and I was self sufficient! I took care of you and my mother and enjoyed everyday I had with you two. When she passed you missed her so much and so did I. I never left you alone. WonderfulJuany came into our lives and between us and the kids we thrived. We planted a garden for you, we planted flowers for mom. I had bird feeders for you to enjoy the birds, humming bird feeders so that you and mom enjoyed the hummingbirds! My life was dedicated to you and I loved it. I got you everything you wanted and there is no regret in my heart. Go fly my love, I will do what I like now in your honor. I was blessed to have had you in my life for fifty wonderful years. God was good to me and you left me five great children who will take care of my needs, seven great grandchildren so I am in good hands. Go fly and I will be by your side when my time comes.Yours always Irma Nelda!

Mr. Cavazos was, and is, a wonderful being. He is not gone. Along with the love of his life, he made wonderful kids and his memories and energy will forever live on in his family... and will continue to live on in generations ahead.

Mr Cavazos was a wonderful boss. Strict and to the point but a great mentor.
He will be missed.

My name is Melinda and I am the first born child to Manuel Cavazos Jr. My "Daaad" as I would call him, was the most honest, by the book, law abiding citizen anybody could meet. He always gave whatever he had if he thought someone needed it more. He was very loyal, determined, driven, self- motivated, and the most structured man I ever knew. He beat Polio as a child.
I was born during Hurricane Buela in 1967 (you do the math). All my "bringing home baby" pictures were with Dads' pant legs rolled up due to the flooding from Buela. I always tell people that I was born during a hurricane and that my life has been one ever since.
I had the best parents in the world! I really did! Life was grand until those pesky brothers of mine started coming into the picture. Four of them! I reigned as Queen over my little brothers. They did what I said to do. Mostly clean the house. Yes I reigned until they started growing taller than me, a whole foot taller than me. That's when I knew my reign was over. We had fun going on family vacations, going to see our grandparents on weekends, putting out fires at the house from time to time, the occasional trip to the hospital. You know fun stuff!
I always felt proud to be a Cavazos mostly because everyone always spoke highly of my Dad. My Dad was always very calm, quiet, straight to the point kind of guy....unless one of us...mainly me, messed up. Especially if I messed up at school. He always valued an education. So when we got in trouble at school....and the Principal from school would call (my Tio Tano)...lets just say confidentially didn't apply because I would get it from all my straight A, future doctors of America cousins, my counselor aunt, my future teacher cousins...."your a Cavazos act like one."
Well I had to learn the very hard way. Dad would look down and he shook his head a lot when it came to me. You see it was hard for me to be good when my parents were both angles. So I finally got it together. I have my family and my faith. God has really taken me under his wing.
The last few weeks have been for me like that hurricane when I first came into this world. Watching your father helplessly, hoping your making the right choices for his health. Not knowing if he'll be o.k. Or if your decision for him was the right one.
But all storms have their end. Rainbows reviel God true plans. And those four pesky brothers, well they are men now and it's because of the love for their father that they have been right by Dads side during this storm. They were there for Dad when he needed them the most. My brothers took over when I couldn't anymore. I will always be grateful to Sonny, Mark, John, and James for the love, honor, and respect they have always shown Dad in this difficult time. They took care of Mom too. I'm glad in all the difficult times all his boys and his Buela Girl all came together as a family...each doing their talents and skills best that I know made Dad a proud man. I love you Dad! I will always be your Buela Girl and I still have Tumbelina!
