RICARDO SUAREZ SR. ALAMO - Ricardo Suarez Sr., 63, died peacefully in his home on August 16, 2022, surrounded by his loved ones. Ricardo was born on October 3rd, 1958, in East Chicago, Indiana to Rosalin Suarez Sr. and Maria Carmelina Ruiz-Suarez. The Suarez family moved to the Rio Grande Valley in 1972; where he later graduated from McAllen High School in 1976. Mr. Suarez is preceded in death by his parents, Rosalin Suarez Sr. and Maria Carmelina Ruiz-Suarez; his sister Rosalinda Suarez; and his brother, Rosalin Suarez Jr. Ricardo found a passion for serving and protecting his community through his older brother Rosalin Suarez Jr., a McAllen Police Officer who was killed on the line of duty in 1981. Ricardo worked his way up throughout his career in the city of McAllen police force. He began his career for the McAllen Police Department in 1983 as a jailor, then a patrol officer, later a private investigator, and finally retired as a police academy instructor in 2015. Ricardo took great pride in his career and had a great love for his “brothers in blue.” Despite being retired, Ricardo maintained close contact with many of his fellow officers and former cadets. He would proudly host a McAllen police officer reunion which has grown tremendously year after year. Ricardo found great joy and honor in his family. He never turned down an opportunity to spend time with his loved ones, and always went the extra mile to show his love and appreciation for them. He is survived by his wife Gloria Rubio- Suarez; his 2 brothers, Juan Suarez of Florida and Enrique Suarez of Pharr; 5 children: Natalie Suarez (Carolina Saenz), Stephanie R. Suarez, Brandie Suarez (Humberto Lopez), Ricardo Suarez Jr. (Jessica Maldonado), and Kristin Suarez; his beloved grandchildren, Peyton Saenz, Olivia Saenz, Aubrie Lopez, and Codie Lopez; numerous nieces and nephews. Ricardo was a devoted Chicago sports fan, always showing his love for the Chicago Bears, Bulls, White Sox, and Cubs. Win or lose, Ricardo had an unwavering support for his Chicago teams. This is a love that he has passed down onto his children and grandchildren, who proudly support their dad’s favorite teams, from watching games on TV, to wearing Chicago apparel, and going to games with him. Not only did Ricardo have a love for viewing sports, but he also loved coaching sports. In his free time, Ricardo served as a little league baseball coach.
