Obituary of Dennis Lyhel Gomez

DENNIS LYHEL GOMEZ GEORGIA- Dennis Lyhel Gomez, SPC in the U.S. Army, passed unexpectedly on April 23, 2022 at the age of 27 while based at Ft. Stewart in Georgia. Dennis is survived by his wife Abril, children Atlas and Dean, parents Lily and Dennis Sr., and siblings Kasandra and Dannae. Dennis was born on January 3, 1995 in El Paso, TX to Lily Gomez and Dennis James Gomez. He honorably enlisted in the military on August 11, 2020 and was training to be a lifeguard. Dennis met his wife Abril at a call center where they both worked years prior to his enlistment. On December 22, 2018 and March 3, 2019 respectively, he welcomed his two beautiful sons, who were the most important part of his life. Dennis was a beloved husband, father, son, brother, soldier and friend. He enjoyed music, traveling, and creating memories with his family —- especially at the beach. He was confident and had a strong sense of self. He believed in the power of a positive mindset, often sharing motivational insights with his loved ones. Dennis had mastered small talk, and genuinely enjoyed conversing with everyone who crossed his path. He will be deeply missed by his friends, family and all who knew him. Visitation will be from 5 p.m. to 9 p.m. with a 7 p.m. prayer service, Saturday, May 7, 2022 at Legacy Chapels 4610 South Jackson Road in Edinburg. Chapel service will be at 11 a.m. on Monday, May 9, 2022 at Legacy Chapels in Edinburg. Interment will follow at Rio Grande Valley State Veterans Cemetery in Mission with full Military honors. Reception to follow at Krysta's Event Center 1706 E. Griffin Pkwy in Mission. Funeral services are under the direction of Legacy Chapels in Edinburg.
