JOSE BARRERA ORTIZ MCALLEN - Jose Barrera Ortiz, 74, entered eternal rest on Saturday, January 29, 2022, in Edinburg. Mr. Barrera was preceded in death by his parents, Teodulo and Guadalupe Barrera; his brother, Jorge Barrera. Mr. Barrera is survived by his wife, Maria Barrera; four children, Jose Alejandro (Jaqueline) Barrera, Yoahanna Yanet (Leonardo Lopez) Barrera; Brenda Crystal (Christian) Torres, Connie Karen (Marco) Granados; seven grandchildren, Jacqueline, Jose, Adriana, James, Marco Jr., Matthias, and Murphy; his sister, Julia Barrera; numerous nieces and nephews. Visitation will be from 5 p.m. to 9 p.m. with a 7 p.m. prayer service, Thursday, February 10, 2022, at Legacy Chapels 4610 South Jackson Road in Edinburg. Funeral mass will be at 10 a.m. Friday, February 11, 2022, at St. Joseph the Worker Catholic Church in McAllen. Interment will follow at Roselawn Cemetery in McAllen. Funeral services are under the direction of Legacy Chapels in Edinburg.
