EDINBURG - Ruperto "Güelito" Gonzalez, 97, entered eternal rest on Tuesday, January 18, 2022, in Edinburg.
Ruperto was born in Dr. Cross, N.L., Mexico, to Cleofas Gonzalez and Paula Rios on March 27, 1924. Ruperto Gonzalez was a humble and honorable man whose sole passion in life was his family and his church.
Ruperto Gonzalez is survived by his wife of 71 years, Ildefonsa Gonzalez of Edinburg Tx; daughters, Matiana Villalon, Maria Elena Ramos and Blanca Estela Perez; son, Juan Ruperto Gonzalez; 17 grandchildren; 36 great-grandchildren; numerous nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by daughter, Maria Felix Giron; granddaughter; Perla Crystal Giron.
Visitation will be from 5 p.m. to 9 p.m. with a 7 p.m. rosary, Sunday, January 23, 2022 at Legacy Chapels 4610 South Jackson Road in Edinburg. Funeral Mass will be at 12 p.m. Monday, January 24, 2022 at Sacred Heart Catholic Church 501 E. Kuhn St. in Edinburg. Interment will follow at Palm Valley Memorial Gardens in Pharr.
The Gonzalez family wishes to extend their gratitude to all who have always been by their side thru the years.
Funeral services are under the direction of Legacy Chapels in Edinburg.
