Obituary of Virginia Martinez

Please share a memory of Virginia to include in a keepsake book for family and friends.
Virginia M. Martinez MCALLEN- Virginia Menchaca Martinez lived a full life in her 92 years on this earth. She went to be with the Lord on January 13th and now rests in her eternal home. She was preceded in death by her daughters Maria Elia and Elsa Martina Concepcion (Conchita) as well as her husband Eulalio “Lalito” Martinez, her parents Eustacio Menchaca and Casimira Villega Menchaca and her sister Maria Davila. Virginia, known to all as Amá, Welita or Doña Virginia, liked to be out and about. Playing Lotería and Bingo were two of her favorite things to do and she never passed up an opportunity to do either one. She loved dresses and always had a great collection of shoes and purses for every occasion. Virginia was very loved by her children, grandchildren, and great grandchildren. She was a loving grandmother and always tried to attend her grandchildren’s birthday parties, graduations, weddings and other various milestone celebrations. If there was music, you’d find her dancing and singing her heart out. She gave the best hugs, and her smile always reached her eyes. We know she is watching over us now, and we will carry her in our hearts forever. We will miss her so very much. Virginia is survived by her children; Maria Sandoval (Mari), San Juana Hernandez (Cuata), Jose A. Martinez (Fredo), Jorge E. Martinez (Pelon), Jesus Martinez (Chuy), Juan E. Martinez (Chato); 28 grandchildren, 54 great grandchildren, 2 great-great grandchildren, her sister Tranquilina Menchaca (Tranqui) and two nieces, all living across Texas, California, Minnesota, Louisiana, Florida and Mexico. Visitation will be from 2:30 p.m. to 9 p.m. with a 3 p.m. chapel service, Sunday, January 16, 2022 at Legacy Chapels 4610 South Jackson Road in Edinburg. Funeral Services are under the direction of Legacy Chapels in Edinburg.
