Obituary of Franco Cortes

FRANCO O. CORTES MCALLEN- Franco Ocampo Cortes, 82 , entered eternal rest on Tuesday, November 16, 2021, in McAllen Texas surrounded by his family. Mr. Cortes was preceded in death by his daughter Lynn Maria Ines, his mother Ines Cortes, his parents Maria and Nestorio, and all his siblings: Romulo, Marvel, Madison, Margarita, Marina, Masdeu, Mabini Adam and Melquiades. This year he was preceded in death by his niece, Maria Catalina Franco lived a gregarious life as an accountant and businessman. He enjoyed gardening and visiting his family in the Philippines, Texas and New Jersey. The thoughts of his family weighed heavily on his heart. He remained proud of the achievements of his children and grandchildren. He lived his life deeply, and sometimes modestly. He expressed his love in a manner that was unconventional, and uniquely his. He cherished his Catholic faith in life and he was alert and awake while receiving the Sacrament of Extreme Unction. He spent his waning years in the company of his wife, and under the constant watch of Michael's family. In his last weeks, he enjoyed the video calls from cousins, nieces, nephews and friends across the US and the Philippines; and in his last moments, the warm company of all his surviving children. He is survived by his wife Lilia, his children Francis (Daniel) Cortes, Leonardo (Josephine+) Terrencio, Michael Frank (Ayreen) Cortes, Lily Gay (Eric) Marshall, and his grandchildren: Patricia Lynn, Arielle Theresa, Elora Jane, Jonah Emmanuel, Nicco Justin, Tyson Jai, Lyric Jade, Michelle, Leonard Joseph, Lennard, Michael Angelo, John Peter, and Jeremiah. A celebration of life will be held on Friday, December 3, 2021 from 3 p.m. to 6 p.m. at Legacy Chapels located at 4610 South Jackson road Edinburg Texas 78539, with a rosary at 3 p.m. to 3:30 p.m. Funeral services are under the direction of Legacy Chapels.
