DORA CRISTINA HERNANDEZ
EDINBURG - Dora Cristina Hernandez entered into eternal rest on the morning of September 22, 2021. During the time of sweet slumber at her home, she was ushered into a perfectly peaceful afterlife where she has been reunited with loved ones she longed to see again. In Christ Jesus, we believe she is currently experiencing God’s loving embrace in His Heavenly Kingdom, all while joyfully sharing her love with her husband Thomas, her parents Daniel & Petra, and her siblings Edward, Robert, Daniel, Fred, and Elva.
Dora devoted her life to family and friends. She was solely responsible for countless satisfied tummies with her delicious meals and loving gestures. She also cared for others outside her circle of loved ones. She spent 40 years as a school teacher shaping the character of her students and building their skills in both mathematics and language arts. She was an active member of the Edinburg community and contributed to various city organizations. She, her husband, and her two daughters were members of St. Joseph Catholic Church. She always prayed for the lives of her loved ones, and searched for ways to assist them. She was tremendously cherished by her family, and will be greatly missed. Her loved ones will mourn her passing, but they will also celebrate her life. It is easy to celebrate a life lived with a generous heart and a loving spirit.
Mrs. Hernandez is survived by her two beloved daughters, Denise Carranza (Joseph) and Jenise Diaz (James Best); her adored grandchildren, Salvador Hinojosa (Venessa), Marina Hinojosa, Hector Diaz, Christyn-Jo Morris (Blaine), and Cathryn Carranza; her precious great-grandchildren, Maia Flores, Abram Flores, and Christian Gonzalez.
Funeral mass will be at 1 p.m. Tuesday, September 28, 2021, at Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Edinburg. Interment will follow at Valley Memorial Gardens in Mission.
