Obituary of Leonardo C. Hernandez

LEONARDO C. "LEO" HERNANDEZ MCALLEN - Leonardo C. "Leo" Hernandez, 63, a loving and proud father of 5 children entered eternal rest Monday, September 13, 2021, in McAllen. Leo was preceded in death by his parents, Leonardo Hernandez and Yolanda Lozano; two brothers-in-law, Servando Paredes II, and Jonas Garza. He was born on February 6, 1958 in Mexico City, Mexico. Leo grew up surrounded by strong role models and mentors. He enjoyed mechanics and working on machinery, he also had a passion for cars and motorcycles. Through these passions he created many friendships he cherished. Leo proudly served in the United States Marine Corps, enlisting in July 26, 1975. Leo completed 15 years with the City of McAllen as a Streets and Drainage Supervisor. He was a dedicated, hardworking, and respected man. Leo was honored to work beside his crew. He took pride in his city and was proud of his responsibility and accomplishments. Leo was a Godly man, and was a man of faith and shared his faith with others. He enjoyed reading his bible and strived to live his life following Jesus Christ. He was a father, a grandpa, a brother, an uncle, a friend, a support system, someone you could count on. Mr. Hernandez is survived by his five children, Adrian Hernandez, Alexandra (Jesse) Rosenbaum, Andrew (Tania) Hernandez, Christopher Hernandez, and Catherine Hernandez; two grandchildren, Sofia and Adam Hernandez; three sisters, Yolanda Paredes, Walkyria Garza, and Sandra Hernandez; numerous nieces and nephews. Visitation will be from 1 p.m. to 9 p.m. with a 6 p.m. Celebration of Life service and full military honors on Thursday, September 23, 2021, at Legacy Chapels 4610 South Jackson Road in Edinburg. Funeral services are under the direction of Legacy Chapels in Edinburg.
