Obituary of Jamie Rutherford Munal

JAMIE RUTHERFORD MUNAL SAN JUAN - Jamie Rutherford Munal, 67, entered eternal rest Friday, April 16, 2021, in San Juan. Jamie was proceeded in death by his parents, Dr. H. Deane and Elizabeth Munal of San Juan, TX; his brother, Harold Deane Munal, III of Palmhurst, TX. Mr. Munal was a proud graduate from Southern Methodist University in Dallas and was a retired Insurance Agent where he owned Munal Insurance. Jamie was a beloved father and husband, who always put the needs of his family first. He was a master fisherman, who loved sharing time with his family and friends catching fish in the arroyo. He had a passion for cooking, even though he would tell you “I hate cooking, but love eating!” Every major holiday, he would stay up all night to make sure the family meal was nothing short of perfection. He would rewrite recipes to fit his palette, and even compiled his own cookbook. Playing guitar was a passion of his, as well as writing music. He recorded multiple albums that he loved to listen to. Jamie also loved reading science fiction, and even worked on writing a novel himself. He was the ultimate provider, and he is dearly missed by his family and friends. Mr. Munal is survived by his wife, Trecia Munal; his son, Clayton Parrish Munal of San Antonio, TX; his daughter, Katherine Lee Munal of Austin, TX. Visitation will begin at 5 p.m. with a 6 p.m. Celebration of Life service, Wednesday, April 21, 2021, at Legacy Chapels 4610 South Jackson Road in Edinburg. In lieu of floral contributions, a memorial contribution in Jamie's honor can be made to Palm Valley Animal Shelter. Funeral service are under the direction of Legacy Chapels in Edinburg.
