Obituary of Raquel Guerra Gonzalez

Raquel Guerra Gonzalez, born on October 28th 1935 in Santa Teresa Ranch, Texas entered into rest on July 25th 2013 in Edinburg surrounded by her loving family. She was a lifelong resident of San Isidro, Texas and attended San Isidro Catholic Church. She was a loving and caring wife and mother. She is preceded in death by her devoted husband of 51 years, Ismael "Melo" Gonzalez, her parents Lazaro M. and Josefa Guerra, siblings Horacio, Ismael and Lazaro, and sister in laws Yolanda M. Guerra and Irene Guerra- Pratts. She was blessed with five children, Elda Gonzalez of McAllen, TX, Cesar I. Gonzalez of Baytown, TX, Rebeca (Tomas) Beltran of Falfurrias, TX, Melisa (Abel Guerra) Gonzalez of San Isidro, TX, and Eric J. (Carmen) Gonzalez of McAllen, TX as well as 11 grandchildren and six great grandchildren. She is also survived by her sisters Lydia (Lino +) Hinojosa of San Isidro, TX and Maria Julia (MB) Pena of McAllen, TX and a brother Leonel (Maria Teresa) Guerra of Corpus Christi, TX and a sister in law, Lucila Guerra of Edinburg. Friends are invited to attend a visitation with the family between the hours of five and nine o'clock in the evening on Sunday, July 28th 2013 at Legacy Chapels, 4610 S. Jackson Rd., in Edinburg. A Rosary will be prayed at seven o'clock and will be available online at www.legacychapelsrgv.com. Funeral Mass will be celebrated at nine o'clock in the morning on Monday, July 29th 2013 at Our Lady of Guadalupe Catholic Church in Mission. Interment will follow at Hinojosa Memorial Cemetery in San Isidro, Texas. Having the distinguished honor of serving as pallbearers will be her grandsons: Mike and Casey Mendoza, Cesar and Chris Gonzalez, Tommy and Art Beltran, Anthony and Andrew Ochoa. Honorary pallbearers will be Vanessa N. Salazar, Emmah R. and Diego I. Gonzalez. The family would like to extend sincere gratitude to the staff at Arbor View Nursing Home for all their care to our mother. Funeral Services are under the direction of Legacy Chapels in Edinburg.
