JOSE RUBINZE MARTINEZ MCALLEN - Jose Rubinze Martinez, 82, a true Husband, Father, and Patriot, entered eternal sleep Thursday, January 21, 2021 in Mcallen surrounded by his family. Mr. Martinez was preceded in death by his son, Robert Escamilla; a son-in-law, Gerald Corn; his parents, Jose and Ramona Martinez; three siblings, Reynaldo Martinez, Corina Salas, and Angelica Flores. Mr. Martinez proudly served his country in the US Army, retiring after 25 years of faithful service. He was a Vietnam veteran where he earned several citations and medals to include the Bronze Star Medal. After his retirement from the US Army he worked many years with the US Postal service as a letter carrier. J.R. will be greatly missed and forever loved by all who knew him. Mr. Martinez is survived by his wife of 50 years, Elizabeth Martinez; two daughters, Melissa (Benjamin) Martinez Solis, and Elizabeth (Gerald) Corn; numerous grandchildren and great-grandchildren; three siblings, Raul Rolando Martinez, Jaime Martinez, and Carmen Saunders; numerous nieces and nephews. Visitation will begin at 9 a.m. with 10 a.m. Military honors Tuesday, January 26, 2021, at Legacy Chapels 4610 South Jackson Road in Edinburg. Interment will follow at Rio Grande Valley State Veterans Cemetery in Mission. Funeral services are under the direction of Legacy Chapel in Edinburg.
