Obituary of Richard Diaz

RICHARD DIAZ EDINBURG - Richard Diaz, 67, entered eternal rest on Wednesday, August 12, 2020, in Edinburg, Texas. Richard was preceded in death by his parents, Juan and Marcela Diaz; and his three grandchildren, Caleb, Justin, and Justine Diaz. Richard was a loving husband, father, grandfather, and a loyal friend to so many. He had a dry sense of humor, a hearty laugh, and he loved his family like no other and that’s what he dedicated his life to. He was born and raised in Edinburg and attended Edinburg High School, Class of 1971. He was married to the love of his life, Emilia Cortez for 45 years, and they were blessed with three beautiful children, Brian, Justin and Ashley. He was a bookkeeper for his entire career, specializing in accounting and tax services. Richard is survived by his wife, Emilia; three children, Brian Diaz (Christina), Justin Diaz (Veronica), and Ashley Flansburg (Blake); four grandchildren, Mia, Bradley, Mila, and Elliott; three brothers, Juan, Juan, Jr., and Ricky; five sisters, Yolanda, Norma, Mellie, Noelia, and Sandy, all of Edinburg; and numerous nieces and nephews. Visitation will be from 5pm – 9pm, with a 7pm prayer service Wednesday, August 19, 2020, at Legacy Chapels 4610 South Jackson Road in Edinburg. Chapel service will be at 10am Thursday, August 20, 2020 at Legacy Chapels. Interment will follow at Hillcrest Memorial Park in Edinburg. Funeral services are under the direction of Legacy Chapels in Edinburg.
