Obituary of Petra Garcia

EDINBURG EDINBURG - Petra Garcia, 71 of Edinburg Texas, went home to be with the Lord on July 16, 2020. She was a teacher for 21 years in the McAllen & Edinburg school districts. Petra is survived by her husband George Garcia & his two children; George Garcia Jr, & Crystal Garcia Velez; two daughters Chrissie Moore and Cyndee Guajardo, son-in-law John A. Guajardo; sister & brother-in-law Sandy & Joe Cortez as well as 7 grandchildren and 11 great-grandchildren. Petra is preceded in death by her parents Ramon & Angela Rodriguez, brother Ramon Rodriguez Jr, & sister Margarita Enriquez. Petra was known as sweetie, mom, Guma, sister, Mrs. Garcia, prayer warrior, prima, confidant and trusted friend. She had a beautiful smile who always made everyone feel comforted and loved. Her love for Jesus and continuous strong faith in the Lord was inspiring to all she met. She served faithfully at DTC Church as a prayer warrior on the prayer line. As part of the Care Team, she helped sew blankets, along with preparing plants to distribute (which she grew in her home) to the sick at the hospital. She owned and operated her own Beauty Shop (Petra’s Hair Designs) for 20 years while she put herself through college and earned her BS Degree in Education from the University of Pan American. She was also a devoted bi-lingual teacher who loved to inspire, cultivate creativity and build imagination in all her students. She loved to go camping, fishing, trips to the beach, and watching her Cowboys. Her greatest desire was to bring souls to Jesus and preach about the healing power of God. She will be greatly missed, and her love will carry on in our hearts always.
