RAUL S. VILLARREAL EDINBURG - Raul S. Villarreal, 81, went to be with our Lord, Friday June 5, 2020, in Edinburg. Mr. Villarreal was preceded in death by three children, Raul Villarreal Jr., Anabel Pena, and Antonio Villarreal; 7 siblings Leonel Villarreal, Tomasita Bayarena, Gene Villarreal, Octavio Villarreal, Jose Maria Villarreal Jr., Ruben Villarreal, Maria Teresa Andrade, and his parents, Jose Maria and Natividad Villarreal. Raul was born and raised in Encino, Texas before he moved to the Valley where he eventually developed a landscaping company based in Edinburg. He also enjoyed being a musician with a variety of bands including being a drummer for The Drifting Texans, The Newton Brothers Band, and the Country Roland Band. Mr. Villarreal is survived by his wife, Socorro R. Villarreal; children, Alma Rosa Villarreal, Maria Teresa Villarreal, Jose "J.R." Villarreal, Martha Reyna, Maria Elena Franco, Elizabeth Villarreal, Saul Villarreal, Natividad Villarreal; numerous grandchildren and great-grandchildren; two siblings, Abelino Villarreal and Tina Pena. Visitation will begin at 12 noon, with a 1 p.m. Chapel service on Tuesday, June 9, 2020, at Legacy Chapels 4610 South Jackson Road in Edinburg. Funeral services are under the direction of Legacy Chapels in Edinburg.
