Obituary of Sylvia Groom

SYLVIA GROOM PHARR - Sylvia E. Groom (previously of McAllen Mobile Park, McAllen, TX and Kellogg Iowa) died of Congestive Heart Failure on May 26th, 2020 in her bedroom at the Gardens of Brookridge, Pharr, TX at the age of 96 years. Sylvia was born in Bottineau, North Dakota, and lived 13 years in Minnesota before moving to Iowa in 1948. She was a Trust Officer and Administration Loan Officer at the Kellogg Savings Bank in Kellogg, Iowa, where she retired in 1986. She is survived by her four children: Two sons, Merle Lee of Grinnell, IA, and Gerald Ray and his wife Anne of Marion, IA; two daughters, Patricia Lynn Arguello and her special friend Thomas Brockling of Pharr, TX, and Sherry Lavern Priaulx and her husband David of Jackson, TN; four grandchildren and seven great grandsons; one brother, Earl Wilhelm of Paso Robles, CA, and many nieces and nephews. Mrs. Groom was preceded in death by her parents, her husband Raymond, her brother Lawrence, her sister Dorothy, her brother Vernon, and her special friend Andy Nicklaus. Memorials may be directed to the Kellogg Historical Society in Kellogg, IA or Our Savior Lutheran Church in McAllen, TX.
