Obituary of Guadalupe G. Castro

Guadalupe “Lupe” G. Castro, born on January 1st 1941 in Rio Grande City, Texas to Ciro and Ernestina Guerra, passed away on July 15th 2014, at her residence in McAllen, surrounded by her family. Lupe was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, sister and aunt who centered her lifestyle around her family. She was a devout catholic and attended St. Joseph the Worker Catholic Church in McAllen. She was an avid bingo player and enjoyed playing chalupa with family. She is preceded in death by her husband, Martin Castro, Sr., a grandson, Lee Roy Garcia; her parents; two brothers, Leonel and Ruben Guerra; a sister, Ernestina G. Cavazos. Lupe is survived by her caring and devoted companion, Jose Carrillo; seven children, Maggie (Johnny Vela) Garcia, Cynthia “Cindy” (Celestino) Najera, Martin “Bibi” (Alicia) Castro, Jr., Dalinda “Dolly” (Gilbert) Gomez, Edward “Eddie” (Betty) Castro, Lee (Judith) Castro and Amalia “Amy” (Juan) De Leon; 18 grandchildren; 11 great-grandchildren; 10 siblings, Ciro Guerra Jr., Martin Guerra Sr., Ramon Guerra, Gilberto Guerra, Roberto Guerra, Jorge Guerra, Hector Guerra, Bertha Rogers, Angelina Perez and Norma Castillo; and numerous nieces and nephews. Family and friends are invited to attend a visitation on Thursday, July 17th 2014, from nine o’clock in the morning until nine o’clock in the evening at Legacy Funeral Home, 4610 S. Jackson Rd., in Edinburg, with a rosary at seven o’clock in the evening. The Funeral Mass will be celebrated at ten o’clock in the morning on Friday, July 18th 2014, at St. Joseph the Worker Catholic Church in McAllen. Interment will follow at Valley Memorial Gardens in McAllen. Pallbearers will be Martin Castro Jr., Edward Castro, Lee Castro, Juan De Leon Jr., Gilberto Gomez Jr., Lee Zedric Castro, Jose Carrillo and Celestino Najera. Immediately following the service, all are invited to greet the family for a reception at Legacy Funeral Home. Memorial contributions can be made the American Cancer Society, P.O.
