Mr. Mario Cantu Martinez,78, entered eternal rest Sunday December 29, 2019 surrounded by his family in Edinburg. Mario was born September 28, 1941 in China, NL, Mexico to Conrado Cantu Reyes and Elisa Martinez Gonzalez. He was a long time resident of Alamo. He enjoyed gardening, dancing, music especially listening to corridos.
He was preceded in death by his parents and other family members.
Mario is survived by his wife-Consuelo Ibarra Gonzalez Cantu; His children- Orfelinda Cantu, Homero Cantu, Arturo Cantu, Mario Cantu Jr. Brothers and Sisters-Conrado Cantu Jr., Tibursio Cantu, Domingo Cantu, Gerarda Cantu, Maria Cantu, Odilia Cantu; 8 grandchildren and 3 great grandchildren.
A gathering of family and friends will be Wednesday, January 1, 2020 at Legacy Chapels, 4610 South Jackson Rd. in Edinburg from 2:00 pm to 9:00 pm with a rosary at 7:00 pm. Funeral mass will be Thursday, January 2, 2020 at 10:00 am at Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Edinburg with Fr. Kumar officiating. Interment will follow at Hillcrest Memorial Park Cemetery in Edinburg.
Funeral arrangements are being handled by Legacy Chapels in Edinburg.
