Phenomenally strong, I’ve seen John lift things well over 300 pounds. Whenever he’d lose a job, it would take 2 men to replace him. As an intellectually with gangly arms and legs—we were completely opposites growing up. I remember John gave me hope on a very dark night in my Divorce separation. Maybe we had more in common as adults.
I am glad that I got to hug him and tell him I cared during those final days.

I always will remember John for sending letters to my dad. While my dad was battling cancer...the letters were prayers.....and motivational sayings.....thank you for that from the bottom of my heart......

Wow..i cant believe.....many memories.....i remember hunting with John. In this old beat up truck he had.....me him and my brother..... i was also heartfelt when i read letters John was sending my dad when my dad battled cancer...the letters were prayers....and motivation saying. To never give up.......you will be missed.....memories live forever....

My brother and I had the privilege of spending a lot of time with him when we worked together in the oilfield. He was a great man and truly loved the Lord. He shared that love with us and was a blessing to be around.

Big John made a difference to all of us that knew him. His special gift was bringing his great faith into all aspects of his life including his work and all other times. Hearing stories of the joy he knew with his family and his stories of God events was something I never grew tired each time I saw him. His humor was contagious. I had heard my husband, Scott, talk about how much he appreciated John and what a unique personality he had with strong Christian values. When my son (21) was diagnosed with cancer, John was quick to offer to talk to him and discuss the importance of faith and healing. We immediately fell in love with him. My son called him the gentle giant which he laughed and said “not that by far!” John made a huge impact on our lives and reaffirmed the importance of love; especially your fellow man. I will miss you John and look forward to talking to you in my prayers. We pray for the Haak family and so sorry for your loss.
