Obituary of Rev. Ariel D. Martinez

  REV. ARIEL D. MARTINEZ

EDINBURG - Rev. Ariel D. Martinez, 73, went to be with our Lord, Friday July 19, 2019 in Edinburg surrounded by his family. Rev. Martinez was preceded in death by his son Josias Martinez; his parents, Juan and Agustina Martinez; two siblings, Noemi Hernandez, and Victor Hugo Martinez. Rev. Martinez graduated from Instituto Biblico Rio Grande in 1965 and continued his education at Pan American University graduating in 1977 with a Baccalaureate in Arts.

Rev. Martinez is survived by his six children, Loida (Gerardo) Rodriguez, Lucy (Juan) Vallejo, Lillian Ochoa, Liz Martinez, Ludim (Ricardo ) Vasquez, and Samuel (Norma) Martinez; 16 grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; his sister, Ungelia Martinez Fuentes; numerous nieces, nephews, and the mother of his children, Idolina Lopez.

Visitation will be from 5 p.m. to 9 p.m. with a 7 p.m. prayer service Sunday July 21, 2019 at Legacy Chapels 4610 South Jackson Road in Edinburg. Funeral service will be at 1 p.m. Monday July 22, 2019 at Legacy Chapels in Edinburg. Interment will follow at Palm Valley Memorial Gardens in Pharr.
