RAFAELA "FELA" B. LEAL

MCALLEN - Rafaela "Fela" B. Leal, 84, went to be with our Lord Sunday, July 14, 2019 at Edinburg Regional Medical Center. Rafaela was born on October 24, 1934 in Laredo, TX. She was preceded in death by her parents Benito and Josephina Barrera; her sister, Janie Barrera Bliz; her brother, John Frank Barrera. 

Fela will be remembered for her love and spending time with her children, grandchildren, and siblings. She was a devoted mother, who opened her heart and her home to all her family over the years.  

Ms. Leal is survived by her four children, Ramiro “Ramm” (Marisela) Leal, Yvette (Michael) Landgraf, Braxton (Nicole) Leal, Katherine (Abraham) Buentello; thirteen grandchildren, Brianna Leal, Alec Leal, Tiffany Landgraf, Courtney Landgraf, Taylor Landgraf, Joshua Landgraf, Braxton Jr. Leal, Kenneth Leal, Chassidy Leal, Cianna Leal, Makenzie Leal, Zachary Leal, and Abraham Buentello II; six siblings, Rosa Perez, Gloria Barrera, Bertha Sanchez, Hope Guajardo, Joe Barrera, and Maria Barrea; numerous nieces and nephews.

Rafaela’s family would like to thank all of the nurses and staff at Colonial Manor Advanced and Rehab Healthcare for their kind and gentle care of Rafaela. 

Visitation will be held from 5:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m., with a 7:00 p.m. rosary Wednesday, July 17, 2019 at Legacy Chapels, 4610 South Jackson Rd. in Edinburg. Funeral service will be at 10 a.m. Thursday July 18, 2019 at Sacred Heart Catholic Church in McAllen. Interment will follow at Roselawn Cemetery in McAllen. Pallbearers will be Ramiro “Ramm” Leal, Braxton Leal, Robert Barrera, Michael Landgraf, Abraham Buentello, Braxton Leal Jr., and Kenneth Leal.
