Obituary of Maria "Tive" Navarro

MARIA "TIVE" NAVARRO

EDINBURG - Maria "Tive" Navarro, 96, went to be with our Lord, Monday, December 24, 2018, in Edinburg surrounded by her family. Mrs. Navarro was preceded in death by her husband, Deciderio Navarro Jr.; her parents, Loreto and Maria Vela; her son-in-law, Armando Guerra.

Maria was a school Librarian at Stephen F. Austin Elementary School for over 22 years. Mrs. Navarro enjoyed reading, sewing, gardening, and working on her crafts. Maria enjoyed visiting with her grandchildren and telling them stories of her yesteryears. She could talk all day and to anyone about herbal remedies. Mrs. Navarro will be for ever loved and missed by all who knew her. 

Mrs. Navarro is survived by her six children, Art (Cindy) Navarro, Molly Navarro, Alex Navarro, Eva Guerra, Annie (Ruben) Marez, and Rose (Mark) Meinen; 15 grandchildren; 16 great-grandchildren; her sister, Beatrice Cuellar; a brother, Jose Vela.

Visitation will be from 5 p.m. to 9 p.m. with a 7 p.m. rosary, Sunday, December 30, 2018, at Legacy Chapels 4610 South Jackson Road in Edinburg. Funeral mass will be celebrated at 10 a.m. Monday, December 31, 2018, at Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Edinburg. Interment will follow at Palm Valley Memorial Gardens in Pharr. 

Funeral services are under the direction of Legacy Chapels in Edinburg.
