Obituary of Encarnacion “Chon” Castilleja

Edinburg, Texas Our dear Father, Husband, Grandfather and Great Grandfather Mr. Encarnacion "Chon" Castilleja,90, went to be with our Lord on Sunday, July 11, 2021. Chon as he was lovingly called by family and friends was born November 12, 1930 in Edinburg, Texas to Encarnacion and Andrea (Coronado) Castilleja. Chon was a life long resident of Edinburg. He had a passion and was well know for his wood furniture refinishing and rebuilding skills. He loved doing wood work and construction. He especially enjoyed traveling with family who took him on many cruises and casino trips. Chon truly lived life to its fullest. He leaves behind many fond memories and will be missed dearly. Chon was preceded in death by his parents; His Daughter-Margarita Martinez; His three Siblings. Left to cherish his memory is his beloved family; His wife of 68 yrs Carolina "Kinka" Vera Castilleja, His children- Gloria and (Arturo Jr. ) Vale, Norma and (Pete) Sanchez, Priscilla and (Ricardo) De La Cruz, Omar and (Ellie) Castilleja, Javier Castilleja, Nora and (Eric) Perkins; 10 Grandchildren, 4 Great Grandchildren; Two chihuahua dogs- Shakira and Thalia; One brother Victor Castilleja. Visitation will be Wednesday, July 14, 2021 from 5:00 PM to 9:00 PM with the recital of the Holy Rosary to begin at 7:00 PM at Legacy Chapels,4610 South Jackson Rd. in Edinburg. Funeral services will be Thursday, July 15, 2021 at 9:00 AM at Legacy Chapels. Interment will follow to Hillcrest Memorial Park in Edinburg. Funeral arrangements are being handled by Legacy Chapels of Edinburg.
